Located in Mahón (Maó), the capital of Menorca, just 4 kilometres from the city centre, Menorca Airport is the only airport on the island and the main gateway for tourists. Operated by Aena, it serves the whole of the Balearic Islands from the archipelago.
Opened in 1969 and then fully renovated and expanded in 2008, the airport now features modern infrastructure with a single terminal spread over three levels. Current capacity reaches 4.5 million passengers per year. In 2024, the airport welcomed 4,172,691 passengers (+3.1% compared to 2023), making it Spain's 15th busiest airport by traffic. It was named "Best Airport in Europe" by ACI in the 2-5 million passenger category.
The terminal has 16 boarding gates, 5 jet bridges, 41 check-in desks (including one dedicated to special baggage) and more than 20 aircraft parking stands. The layout is simple: ground floor for arrivals and baggage claim, first floor for check-in desks, second floor for security control and boarding gates, third floor for the Sala VIP Tramuntana lounge with a panoramic viewpoint.
Menorca Airport experiences the most pronounced seasonality in all of Spain: barely 50,000 passengers in January, compared to more than 500,000 passengers in August. Most airlines operate between April and October, in line with the tourist season. In low season, only scheduled routes to Barcelona (Vueling, Iberia, Ryanair), Madrid (Air Nostrum, Iberia Express) and Palma de Mallorca (Air Nostrum) remain in operation.
The airport is served by Europe's leading low-cost and scheduled airlines: Vueling, Iberia, Ryanair, easyJet, Volotea, Air Nostrum, Iberia Express, Transavia, Eurowings, Edelweiss Air, ITA Airways, Neos, TUI Airways, Jet2.com, British Airways, Wizz Air. In total, 66 direct flights to 13 European countries in 2025, including 10 French airports: Paris-Orly, Paris-CDG, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Toulouse, Lille, Brest and Montpellier.
Menorca has neither a motorway nor a rail network. All travel takes place on the main ME-1 road, which crosses the island from east to west. There is only one direct bus line from the airport (line 10 to Mahón town centre), which makes it harder to reach the beach resorts without a connection.

For a direct transfer to your hotel, the €14.70 shared shuttle or private transfer are the simplest solutions after a long flight.
